Initially this year, Canonical proclaimed that it was working on a lightweight version of Ubuntu Linux designed to work as a quick option of booting the operating system. Ubuntu is called Light, and as Splashtop or hyperspace, the idea is that you can run the operating system on the same computer as Windows or another operating system with all functions. Then boots has the option to boot Ubuntu Luz, which should take about 10 to 20 seconds, or Windows, which could take about a minute.
We have not really heard much about light Ubuntu for a while, but now it seems that Dell is sending the OS boot faster with M101z Inspiron laptop notebook. I did not realize the software on the M101z I reviewed a few months ago; it seems that this could be a recent addition. Ubuntu Light includes a web browser and other applications - but the last I heard, you really cannot add and remove applications, part of the reason, the system starts to work faster than the full version of Ubuntu Linux.
I'm not entirely sold on all the OS boot faster, because most people who know how to use the standby or hibernation function on their computers more often than fully closed - and often can go back to sleep much faster than it has even a bootable operating system to load faster. But if you're interested in light M101z Ubuntu seems that Dell is one of the first machines to ship with it preinstalled. There is also a recovery disk to download, but is designed to work only with the Dell Inspiron M101z.
