Compal made a licensing contract for Android

Compal Electronics Inc recently became the third Taiwanese note pad computer contract manufacturer to sign a patent licensing contract with Microsoft Corporation to utilize Chrome operating systems (OS) or Android. The contract requires Compal, the second world largest laptop contract manufacturer, to pay the software giant an unrevealed amount of royalties for each mobile phone, tablet,  e-reader or other customer devices it creates that run moreover of the systems.

Compal Electronics Inc is following in the track of Wistron Corporation, which signed the licensing contract with Microsoft on 5th July, as well as Quanta Computer Inc, which inked a same contract on 13th Oct.

Other companies that have decided to Microsoft's licensing terms include South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co, Acer Inc, and Taiwan's HTC Corp, Velocity Micro Inc of the US and Japan's Onkyo Corp and ViewSonic Corp. Chrome and Android are two unlock platforms developed by Google Inc, however Microsoft has declared that they infringe on its patents as well as demanded device manufacturers pay charge when utilizing them.
