Google Android operating system has taken the broader initiative on Apple Inc.’s IOS in the US, as per the figures from research firm ComScore. The technology site CNET reported by ComScore figures which shows 43.7 % of Android had United States market of Smartphone OS during the three months period that ended in August 2011. It was an increase of 5.6 percent of market share which was 38.1 percent at the end of May, said by CNET.
Citing figures from ComScore, CNET said the entire people with smartphones in the United States during the three months which were ended in August grew 10 percent over the past three months to 84.5 million. Apple's market share was subsequent with 27.3 % - an insignificant improvement from the 26.6 % stake it had in late May. Thirdly, Research In Motion's BlackBerry operating system, with a market share of 19.7 percent – drop down to five percentage points from 24.7 percent in May.
Two operating systems of Microsoft, Windows and Windows Phone 7 had a 5.7 per cent share, ahead by defeating 1.8 percent shares of Symbian. CNET said, but, that the degree of dominance of Android in which the space is still arguable. It cited the results of one more research firm NPD, which Android is running on 52 % of all smartphones which sold in the United States during the second period.
NPD adds IOS was second with 29 %, BlackBerry Operating System at third place with 11 %, and Windows 7, Windows Mobile and WebOS with less than five percent each. ComScore also examined the most popular suppliers during the three months ended August. Its figures show 25.3 percent of mobile subscribers in the U.S. were running a Samsung device, and 14 % of a Motorola device and 21 % of LG device.
